Regents would like to welcome Reagan Saunders as the assistant athletic director. You may recognize Coach Saunders’ name from his internship with Regents last year while he was party of Trinity Presbyterian Church’s Fellows Program. This year, he returns full-time to coach P.E., lead intramurals, help drive buses and more. With Coach Johnson assuming a leadership role in the VACA conference as well as working to raise money for a gymnasium, Coach Saunders's presence is truly an answer to prayer.
“My favorite part of being at Regents is getting to know the students and seeing them find their creativity, building relationships, and working towards a mission together," says Coach Saunders. "We’re a young school but have done well athletically and it’s exciting to get to be part of that continued growth.”
“My goal for students in P.E. is that for each class they learn something about themselves, something about the activity we’re doing, and something about working together, especially how to be a competitor while treating others with respect.”
Coach Saunders is heading up the after school intramural program in the Grammar School which has included flag football and soccer this year and bowling, kick ball, dodgeball, lacrosse (and more!) in years past. He also is spearheading the new JV Boys Basketball team. “We don’t have the gym space to make JV Basketball truly an independent team but they will have their own game schedule which will enable the guys who won’t get playing time on varsity to get out on the court and compete," says Coach Saunders.
Coach Saunders is a 2022 graduate of Grove City College with a degree in Exercise Science and a love for sports administration. During college, he served as Grove City’s men’s intramural sports president and facilitated nearly 30 different sports on campus. He also has been an assistant coach for high school and middle school basketball teams and was the point person on the practice team for Grove City’s varsity women’s program. He is a devoted fan of the Washington Commanders and Baltimore Orioles and enjoys playing any sport, learning board games, and spending his summers working at Summer's Best 2 Weeks.
