At Regents, we believe that athletics are an integral part of education, when rightly understood, because they complement our greater mission. Student-athletes experience great life lessons while on the courts and field. Athletics go beyond the classroom to advance lessons of commitment, teamwork, tenacity, and overcoming adversity. These lessons are more than just drawing up the plays and going through the motions. Our goal is to reach into the heart of each athlete as he develops a love for Christ and a love for service to those around him.
With that in mind, the Regents athletic program began in 2013 with basketball, volleyball, cross country, and wrestling for fifth through eleventh grades. Along the way, our athletic program has provided tremendous opportunities to strengthen the larger community of Regents. Relationships built in the stands provide cohesiveness among our parents as they support their children. Your enthusiastic participation is important as we seek the continued growth of our athletic program.
Regents participates in the Virginia Christian Athletics (VACA) North Conference and currently offers volleyball, tennis, cross-country, basketball, golf, and baseball..
The mission of the intramural program is to provide a variety of positive athletic opportunities in a Christian environment that give Regents School of Charlottesville and home school students the opportunity to participate in a program that is organized, uplifting, and safe. Clinics are coed and meet once or twice a week. They are designed to introduce novice players to each sport and, at the same time, challenge experienced athletes. We will focus on skill development, game theory, and developing a love for each sport. In addition, our intramural program is designed to give players an introduction to how to compete as Christians, “For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love, and of self-discipline.” (2 Timothy 1:7).
