Excerpt from Logic and Rhetoric School Back to School Address

“Each and every one of us is an image bearer of God carries the weightiness of God’s glory. Just as much as we’re called to steward our time and our finances, we are called to steward the glory of being His image bearer. We are constantly interacting with other people made in the image of God. There is a weightiness of being invited into a relationship with God and what we choose to do or not do with that.

God is inviting us to be His regents here on earth and has entrusted this world to us. Over the course of this year and really over your whole time at Regents, that’s what we’re pursuing. God is king and He invites His people to rule underneath Him to make this world more like the kingdom in heaven.

We believe how a student approach their athletics, extracurriculars, friendships, studies, the classes you like and the classes you like less – all that is part of how we glorify God and enjoy Him forever. That’s what we’re really all about here at Regents.

All of us are contributing to the culture of the Upper School at Regents. All of us have been entrusted with influence. All of us are culture builders. It’s very important that we understand that if there’s something about the culture here that is not pointing us toward glorifying God and enjoying Him forever that we all have ownership of making that change and seeing the culture move so that people can be respected and treated with kindness as image bearers of God. All of us deal with the humbling reality that we’re not going to perfectly reflect God. But we’re invited into a process of repentance. Augustine called it having rightly ordered affections and rightly ordered loves.

How are you going to build this culture here at Regents School? All of us have a piece of this culture. When people visit, will they feel the presence of God and see His people living out His values together? This is my challenge to you." -Christopher Webb, Principal
