“Courage is a command. It’s not optional for God’s people. God commands His people to have courage as we live in a world that could frighten us and tempt us to take the easy way out. But what we need to do is to stay firm for what is true and good and beautiful.
Courage comes from having a big sovereign God. If God had told Joshua, ‘I don’t know how this is going to work out, let’s just see what happens.’ How would Joshua respond to that? But God is in control of everything and courage comes from having faith in what God has promised.
God has made a covenant with us through Jesus Christ. God cares about His children. When we trust Him that He will keep His word, then we can have the confidence to do what He says. That’s where courage comes from. Are we ready to be courageous in light of God’s promises this year?” -Justin Keller, Chaplain
