Congratulations to all the Regents Students who received certificates as cum laude or magna cum laude on the National Latin Exam as well as to teacher Grace MacDowall who has so competently led our Latin program the last two years! The basic purposes of the NLE are to promote the study of Latin and to encourage the individual student to pursue excellence in their study.
Before Mrs. MacDowall, about one Regents student received a National Latin Exam award each year, and the school had never had a student at the Magna Cum Laude level. Last year, during Mrs. MacDowall's first year, seven students received NLE awards, and this year that number more than doubled again! We are so proud of your leadership, Mrs. MacDowall!
