After a pandemic hiatus, dance returned to Regents this year! Led by art and kindergarten teacher Olivia Pincombe, an accomplished ballerina herself, more than 30 students learned some of the fundamentals of classical dance and delighted audiences with their work at a performance at Portico Church. Thanks to Portico Church for letting us use their space and for John Wang for so generously giving of his time to manage the music and lights for the performance!
At the end of the night, the fifth and sixth graders were called upon with little notice to come onstage and thank their teacher and present her with flowers. Afterwards, I congratulated one of the sixth grade students on a job well done and she turned to me and said, "Speaking in front of an audience doesn't make me nervous. I've been doing it since kindergarten!" What a beautiful truth!
