Sixth Grade Worldview Class

Monday, January 24th, 2022

One of the distinctives of Regents is a class on Building a Biblical Worldview held every Tuesday during the sixth grade year.  Taught by Sheila and Donna Richardson, the class’s goals are to learn to think biblically in every aspect of their days, to remove stumbling blocks to belief - areas where the teachings of secular culture contradict the Bible, and to know better the Artist from His Masterpiece.  “We study a lot about Creation because it is an act of worship to do so,” says Mrs. Richardson. “God who created all things reveals Himself in His creation. We desire that students fall more deeply in love with their God as they understand the wonder of what He has made.”

Throughout the class, students reflect on the TV shows, movies, books, and news events that they encounter in their lives outside of school to help identify the different worldviews underpinning these things. “We are all guilty of accommodating anti-biblical worldviews into our own thinking, simply because we hear them so often and don’t think about or don’t have the tools to refute them,” says Mrs. Richardson. It is a great opportunity to ask questions and think critically about these things, especially for these students on the cusp of adolescence! Thank you, Sheila and Donna!
