Eighth grade has already read through Cyrano de Bergerac and Beowulf in Medieval History. "Beowulf has everything a teenage boy loves once they get into it," says teacher Mr. Keller. "It's a story where the epic hero slays a powerful monster and wins the treasure." Mr. Keller has also challenged students to memorize and present sonnets to their classmates as a way to internalize the structure and language of poetry.
