One of the early priorities in the Logic & Rhetoric Schools is welcoming students into their houses and creating the social and mentorship connections that help students find their place at Regents. The year began with a House Picnic when new students were welcomed into their houses. The second week of school held a retreat at Watermarks camp where former athletic director Doug Smethurst addressed the group and students had time to bond as a community. This week was the first spirit week of the year! "Putting an emphasis on building community earlier on in the year is essential because all the outworking of the Gospel or the Peacemeaker has to happen in the community context," says Principal Christopher Webb. "Many of these heart-level lessons have to happen in the community context for them to make sense."
