Seventh Grade Socratic Seminar

Friday, October 30th, 2020

Earlier this month, our Logic 1 class completed their first Socratic Seminar on the topic of lying. After days of preparation, the class came ready to discuss, defend, and convince others of their stance on lying.  Using articles, videos, and their own knowledge, seventh grade students got to put their newfound logic skills to the test.

Students' arguments included what the Bible says on the topic, how white lies affect others (both positively and negatively), is lying a two-person act, and is lying to yourself wrong? Through these topics the students were able to continue to develop critical thinking skills while sharpening their listening, communication, and text analysis skills. We look forward to watching the 7th graders continue to learn to use sound logic in their arguments throughout the year!
