A Statement on Recent Events in Charlottesville

Sunday, August 13th, 2017

Dear Regents School Community,

The entire Regents School community is heartbroken over the racism, hatred, violence, and now loss of life that has taken place in the town that we love and call home. Our prayers are with every family in the school. We have families in the school who are targets of today's hatred due to the color of their skin. All of us know families and teachers who feel threatened by those in our town today; we stand with you.

We also have many doctors, nurses, EMS, and police officers who are helping to serve the public, keep us safe, and de-escalate the violence. Additionally, our pastors have the emotional task of ministering to hurting congregations and communities.

Please join me in praying for everyone involved in all of these events. We serve a mighty God. He is sovereign, even in tragedy, hatred, and pain.

Coach Johnson was able to offer Isaiah 41:10 as a point of meditation today:

Fear not, for I am with you;
be not dismayed, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you, I will help you,
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

In Christ,

Courtney Palumbo
